Brown's Lake

Woodbury County, Iowa

Brown's Lake is located 2 miles west of Salix, Iowa off I-29 at the Salix exit. Go west and look for the entrance sign.
Brown's Lake and Bigelow Park are operated by the Woodbury County Conservation Board. The best birding area is on the back side of the lake where there is a variety of floodplain forest, grasses, marsh, as well as some open water.

Continue around the lake to the area marked as closed to vehicular traffic. Parking can be a bit cramped but please allow access to the gate for emergency vehicles. One can readily walk around the gate and continue along the dirt road.
